Volunteers

Volunteers play a crucial role in the work Community Health Connect does. Because a large percentage of our patients are Spanish speakers, we rely on bilingual volunteers to act as interpreters at their medical and dental appointments. Volunteers also assist us in other capacities such as marketing, recruitment, outreach activities, and with general office work. We are always searching for committed and enthusiastic volunteers to help in our cause.

All volunteer positions are on a first come first serve basis. There is currently a waiting list for volunteer interpreters. If you are interested in volunteering for our agency please contact Penny Wallace for more information: 801.818.3013 penny@utahchc.org.

Volunteer Interpreters

To provide an optimal experience for our patients and volunteer providers, CHC arranges to provide patients with fluent translators at their appointments when necessary. Translation needs are for Spanish speaking interpreters, but other languages are also needed. Experience with medical and dental terminology is helpful, but not required. There is currently a waiting list for this volunteer opportunity.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Must speak English and Spanish
  • Must commit to volunteer for at least 1 semester (Spring, Summer, Fall)
  • Must attend a one-time interpreter training
  • Must attend a monthly volunteer meeting
  • Must pass a state background check

To start the interpreter application process please request an application from our Volunteer Coordinator Penny Wallace penny@utahchc.org.
